HELEN FRANCES SAMPSON was born December 11, 1930, to the late William Matthews and Hattie Chambers. Helen, affectionately known to many as "Becky" received her education in the schools of Howard County. She was reared in a Christian home, accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended St. Stephens A.M.E Church and became a member. Later, she became a member of Mt. Winans United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Lonnie B. Sampson and out of this union were born six beautiful children. She was employed as a Cook at Randy's California Inn for twenty years. She was also the Head Cook at The Canton's House. Upon retirement, she and her sister Hattie started their own Eatery, The Crab House in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Helen was a pioneer in her community. She was always there to lend a helping hand to all those who knew her. She loved feeding the world; everyone would come to Miss Becky's house for a good old country dinner. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Marvin Sampson and daughter, T. Rochelle Sampson. She leaves to mourn and cherish her precious memory: four sons, Rickey Oglesby, Michael Sampson, Robert Sampson and Yusef Kareem; two daughters, Dr. Sylvia Matthews and Valerie Sampson; brother, Calvin Matthews; two sisters-in-law, Ada Matthews and Catherine Matthews; daughter-in-law, Lizzie Sampson; sixteen grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Denise Wallace.
