Hodge
June 6, 1931 – April 19, 2019
Henry DeWitt Hodge, was born June 6, 1931 in Courthouse, Virginia to
Walter Hodge and Carrie Greene. He departed his journey of life on April
19,2019.
Henry received his early education in Courthouse, VA and completed his
education in Baltimore, MD.
He served in the US Army ofwhich he was honorably discharged in 1959.
He had various jobs thereafter while seeking employment at Bethlehem
Steel where he worked for many years until retirement.
Henry was family oriented and enjoyed family gatherings especially when
crabs and cook outs was the main attraction. He looked forward to seeing
family & friends and laughing with them. Everyone loved his quiet, gentle,
easy going and soft-spoken spirit. He had a love for cars, especially the
Cadillac. Henry was very health conscious and completely changed dietary
needs and became an avid walker and spent a lot of time on various tracks
in Baltimore City & County and also the reservoir. He had a very loving
attitude which was noticed by all and will be missed. He had a special bond
with his sister Gloria and her husband.
Henry realized the need of a personal relationship with God in his life in
2001. He was baptized April 3, 2001 at Central Church of Christ under the
leadership of late Bro. Humphrey Foutz. He was a faithful member who
attended Sunday Morning Bible Study and worship service every Sunday.
You could always find Bro. Hodge sitting in the rear of the sanctuary with
his longtime brother-in-Christ andfriend Bro. Pettis Robinson Bro. Hodge
participated in the Senior Ministry's Merry Milestone events.
Preceding him in death was son, Eric Tony Howard, brothers, Charlie,
John Sr. and Walter Hodge, sisters Zenobia Baker and Alice Faye McCray.
He leaves to mourn his life: Darrell Hodge and Darrell Hodge Jr.; sister,
Gloria Crawford (Johnny); nephews, Quintin Baker (Francine), Ferrante
Baker (Earthell), Avery, Dontay and Terrence (Margie) Campbell; nieces,
Valeria Gaither (Johnnie), Stacey Crowell (Keith) and Michele Campbell;
cousin, Betty Watkins and a host of relatives andfriends.
