Henry William Simmons, son of the late Sam Duncan and Bertha Simmons was born in Onslow Co., NC on September 7, 1934. During his childood he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. Henry better known as Hank to most, received his education in Jacksonville, North Carolina. In 1972 he received a Certificated from the Carver Adult Vocational Center for successful completion of Sanitation Engineering. In 1955 Hank moved to Baltimore, Md. In his earlier years he began to work for a Chemical Plant in Curtis Bay. Later he began to work for the Baltimore City Public School System as an Engineer 1st. grade. In 1970 he retired from the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1971 he began working for the State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Pretrial Detention and Services were he was employed for 27 years. He retired in 1998 due to illness. He was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 after a lengthy illness. One son Henry Simmons II preceded Hank in death. In 1971 Henry Simmons met his soul mate Alice Bullock. They were wed on September 9, 1995. Hank leaves to cherish his memory 5 children from his first marriage, Wade Simmons, Kevin Simmons, Lascell Simmons;, Faith Lucas and Jayzena Simmons; two daughters-in-law Carolyn Simmons and Kay Simmons; twelve grandchildren Dawade, Wade, Jr., Lashell, Rodney, Kevin Jr., Shakia, Destiny. Tony, Tonia, Tameka, Lamont, Lascell. Happy memories will be shared by: his loving and devoted wife, Alice L. Simmons and his 5 grandchildren that he raised as his own Travis Carter, Shawn Bullock, Tyrone Beverly, Kimberly Bever;y, Tyrail Beverly, and his adopted daughtr Daniellle Tucker, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
