Herbert E. Washington, son of the late William J. Washington and Jane A. Washington, was born on July 9, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life to be at peace with his Maker in early September 2008. He was a graduate of the class of 1972 from Baltimore City College. He was employed by the State of Maryland foe over thirty-five years. His most recent position was the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Maryland Children's Health program policy specialist. He retired in June 2008. At the age of twenty-two he met the former Sandra Mallory and from this union had one child, Shannon Washington, and the relationship led them to marriage in 1998. Herbert made numerous friends throughout his fifty-four years and will sincerely be missed by everyone who knew him. He leaves to mourn: his ex-wife, Sandra Washington; his daughter, Shannon Washington; his two sisters, Wallace Smith and Naoma Elliott; two brothers-in-law, as well as nephews, nieces, numerous other family members and friends. We know he is at peace with his mother Jane, his father William Sr; his stepmother Dorothy Washington, and his brother William Washington.
