Herman Cornish, was born January 16, 1935 in Baltimore,
Maryland, the son of Gertrude Cornish and Frank Thaxton.
He departed this earth November 8, 2015 after a lengthy
illness.
Herman was educated in the Baltimore City School System.
He had varied interests and worked in several different fields
until he started at Bethlehem Steel where he worked until he
retired.
He was a very sports oriented individual who loved playing
basketball in his youth and was an avid follower of baseball,
basketball, and football. He also enjoyed reading, playing
chess, and long discussions about current events. His inter-
ests were varied and he could hold a conversation on a myriad
of subjects.
Herman enjoyed all types of music. He was a person who
enjoyed rock music before it became 'fashionable '. He also
enjoyed partying with his family and friends and could be
counted on to start the group dancing. His moves may not have
been considered 'smooth' but he enjoyed himself to thefullest!
He started the party, was the heart of the party, and was the
last one to leave the party. He will surely be missed!
Herman lived with his sister and her family the last twenty
27 years of his life. Here, he taught his nephew how to play
chess; he walked his great grandniece to the store, and always
carried her back after she always fell asleep. Here was where
he was called' Uncle Hermie' and was greatly loved.
Although Herman was not an active member of a congregation,
he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and
-Savior when he was baptized at Apostolic Faith Church in his
youth.
He leaves to mourn a devoted sister, a brother-in-law, a wife,
three daughters, a stepson, many grandchildren, great grand-
children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial Service Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
