Herman Leander Keating was called to rest on Tuesday July 5, 2016.
Herman was born on December 11, 1954 to the late Charles and
Minnie Keating.
He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System.
Herman enlisted in the Army in June 1972 and received an
honorable discharge.
In November 1977, he married the love of his life, Teresa I.
Hawkins. From this union, they were blessed with two children,
daughter Ishea L. Keating and son Breon J. Keating.
Herman was employed with Johns Hopkins Hospital for 20 years
and retired in January 2013.
Herman was fun and always had a smile on his face. He loved to
make people laugh. Herman was an avid sports fan and loved
playing the slots. His dogs, Sugar Rae and Cassius Clay, gave him
many hours of enjoyment. Herman loved vacationing in Disney
World with the kids. He truly loved children and they loved him.
Mostly, he loved to spend time with those he loved (his wife,
children and grandchildren).
Preceding him in death, brother, Arthur W. Keating. Herman
leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Teresa I.
Keating, daughter, Ishea L. Keating, son, Breon J. Keating, favorite
grandson, Shyheem J. Gordon, four granddaughters, Kayla B.
Keating, Rhyan P. Keating, Braylen P. Keating, Reagan L. Keating,
two brothers, James Pierce and Charles Keating Jr., Mother-in-
law, Ida Hawkins, two sisters-in-law, Brenda Hasan (Maurice) and
Debra Burris (Rodney), Brothers-in-law, George Hawkins Jr and
Boyd Hawkins Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and
