Hilda Viola Hatch, daughter of the late Mary McDonald-Hatch and Elijah Hatch departed this life after a lengthy illness on AprilS, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Hilda was the eldest of three daughters and was raised by her loving father. However, she had two aunts, Hilda Dorsey (deceased) and Martha Johnson that played a vital role in her formative years. Hilda was preceded in death by her two younger sisters, Rita in 2005 and Mary in 2010. Hilda also had a younger brother Clarence that preceded her in death as a young child. Hilda was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public School System graduating from Wiley H. Bates High School with the class of 1957. Upon graduating High School Hilda began her working career with The Honey Bee Diner where she was employed for over twenty five years doing what was one of her greatest passions "Cooking". When the original Honey Bee Diner closed, she then continued her career with the diner at the former Reeds Drug Store where she worked for 10 years until their closing in 1980. Hilda had many hobbies including cooking, sewing, and in her younger years she loved to fish. Many of her summer hours were spent picking fresh vegetables from her fathers garden as well as canning and preparing them to make her famous "Chow-Chow". Hilda loved spending time with her sisters watching baseball and going on different trips every year. Some of her favorites included the Poconos, Wild Wood, and Atlantic City. In her younger years she also greatly enjoyed social gatherings with family and friends. Later in life Hilda enjoyed watching "Sandford and Son", "Two and a Half Men" Country Westerns and "In the House" with L.L. Cool J. whom she adored. She also had a love for music some of her favorites included Country, R&B, Gospel and Blues. Her daughters and grand-daughters were the loves of her life and she loved spending time with them. "Mama" as she was affectionately called would often say, "I LOVE ALL MY CHILDREN". Hilda also played an important part in rearing her only nephew, Gregory. Hilda leaves to cherish her memory: two devoted daughters, Dana and LaDonya (Laron); four grand-daughters, Erika, LaNesha, LaKira, and LaN- ya; one aunt, Martha Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
