Hilda Marie Waters, daughter of the late Lucy Brown Lewis and Charles Sylvester Lewis, was born on June 1, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on November 7, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She worked at D & G and Kane Transportation as a bus aide for several years. She was a member of the Spirit of Chesapeake Temple #176 for forty-five years. She was a Past Daughter Ruler of Peace and Harmmony Council. Hilda was also a Past State President in the Tri-State Association. She received the highest honor a daughter could have as Past Grand Daughter Ruler in the Improved Benevolent Protected Order Elks of the World. For years she was a devoted member at Timothy Baptist Church and Lewin/Arlington Methodist Church until her health began to fail. Hilda had a special love for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Waters Sr., her sons Charles, Arthur, Carlos and her brothers, Elmer, Robert, Sylvester, Arthur and Delroy. She leaves to mourn; a sister, Mary Jane, children, Jeanette Rudolph, Kurettha, Jetta Jeffrey, Patricia Rayford, Robert Jeanne and Vincent; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jean, Viola, Elnor and Florence; brothers-in-law, Elwood, William, Melvin, and Harry; a very devoted and caring friend, Matilda griffen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
