Obituary

Horace "Lee" Alston, son of the late Edward Alston and Mary A. Pointer-Alston, was born on October 12, 1932 in Weldon, North Carolina. He departed this life June 18, 2013 suddenly. Lee, as he was lovingly called, received his education in the Weldon, North Carolina school system before he relocated to Baltimore, MD. He was employed with the Baltimore City Public Schools system until he retired. Lee was one of a kind; he was a very social person who loved a good time and enjoyed being around his family and friends. Lee was a loving and giving man, he would give his last to anyone who was in need. He loved talking and laughing with everyone he met, he made a friend or two everywhere he went, he always left a lasting impression. Lee loved clothes, shoes, jewelry and cologne, he was always dressed to impress and smelling good. Lee loved going to concerts, plays and parties. Lee loved listening to Oldies but Goodies, Jazz and Blues. You could always find him sitting in the window listening to BB King, Al Green, Otis Redding and Bobby "Blue" Bland. His witty and bubbly personality will be sorely missed. Lee was preceded in death by five brothers, Lewis, McKinley, Eugene, Alonzo & Herbert "Red" Alston; one sister, Denola Alston; six brothers-in law, Norman "Spike", Stanley, Ronald, Owens, George, and Charles Matthews; one sister-in-law, Mildred Matthews and his oldest daughter, Rhonda Venessa Lowery.
