Howard Martin Blackwell, beloved son of the late Alverta and
James Chesley, affectionately known as Blackwell to many, was born on
January 21, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was called home to rest on
Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:4Sam after a lengthy illness.

Howard was educated in the Baltimore City School Systems,
graduating from Carver Vocational Technical High School. He went on to
further his education at the Community College of Baltimore for two years
before enlisting in the Army, where he served his country for four years. He
received many badges and metals while in the Army.

Howard enjoyed many things. He loved old school music,
including the Temptations and Aretha Franklin. He often told the story of
when he met Aretha, when she came to sing for the soldiers in the Army. He
also enjoyed old black and white and military movies and loved to watch
cartoons. Football and other sports were his favorites, sometimes watching
