Hufus Collie, beloved son of the late Leonia and Hodger Collie was born on Mdarch 7, 1931 in Greenville, South Carolina, but was raised in New York. He was the oldest of two children. On Friday, May 6, 2001 he responded to his Saviior's call and entered through the gates of t6he city call Heaven after a battle with cancer. Hufus affectionately called "Jimmy" married the Love of His Life, the late Beulah Collier on May 13, 1989. they were inseparable called her home on November 11, 2007. Jimmy was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit on December 31, 1981 at Concord Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M.R. Silver and later became a member of shiooh C.C. Church, Rev. Jimmy C. Badwin, Paston. Jimmy received his education in New York. In 1971 he became a member of the Most Worshipful Hiram Grand Lodge in Baltimore, Lodge #17, "Omega." For thirty-five years he was employed in various occupations Sealy Mattress Co., Loyola College but was blssed to work in construction under Construction Laborers Union Local #194. In 1992 he was elected Business Manager for his local and fullfilled those duties for four years and the retired to spend more time with his wife. Jimmy loved life. He had a loving spirit for whomever he came in contact with. He loved God, his wife, his brother, Charles and all of his family. He love sports. As a young boy growing up in New York, he said that the famous boxer, Floyd Paterson and his brothers were neighbors and that the taught him how to box. Because whe he got himself into some mischief he could not run fast. He especially loved baseball. As a New Yorker he was a true fan of the Yankees, though he loved the Orioles too, Smile. He loved jazz, good food, and he loved to look good, one can say that he had swagger. Jimmy had two men in his life that were like sons to him, Arthur Scott and Calvin Gilliam. They had a special bond that was blessed by God which kept them togather. They looked out for one another no matter what. Jimmy leaves to celbrate his life; two sons Marvin and Danny; brother Charles Collier; sister-in-law, Ann Edison; and as a wonderul stepfather/grandfather to, Gregory Henderson, Kathy Thompson, Alfreda Hanner, Josepj Hawkins, Grover Hawkins and Cynthia Gilliam; daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of supportive friends.
