Iantha Bernice Coates, daughter of the late William H., Sr. and Lillie E. Saavoy, was born on February 5, 1925 in Cooksville, Maryland. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She attended and graduated from Cooksville High School located in Howard County, Maryland. Iantha's early Christian experience began at Mount Gregory United Methodist Church in Cooksville, Maryland where as a child she atended with her devoted Christian mother, brother, and sisters. These early beginnings helped to establish her strong Christian faith and love for the Lord. She joined and was baptized at Full Gospel Tabernalce Church in Catonsville, Maryland where she enjoyed singing with the gospel choir. Later, she became a member of Christian Life Church, Gwynn Oak, Maryland where she attended until her illness prevented her from going. Iantha was united in holy matrimony to Vernon Lewis Coates, Sr. in 1941, and he affectionately gave her the nickname ''Honey''. From this union, they had four children; Vernon, Jr., Shirley Ann deceased, Janeen, and Bettye. She was employed at the House in the Pine Nursing Home where she faithfully wirked for approximately nineteen years before retiring. As a result of her dedication and faithfulness, she received many honors of recognition. She was supportive, encouraging, and always received great joy in helping others. Iantha was an outgoing, loving person who enjoyed traveling, reading, doing grossword puzzles, and listening to gospel music. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother, and a dear friend to others. She would go the last mile to help anyone. She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted husband, Vernon L. Coates, Sr. her dedicated and loving children, Vernon L.
