god in his infinite wisdom came to calm His own India Louise Powell-Lemon, the beloved daughter of the late Lillian Louis Powell and the lat Hezzie Thomas Sessomes, Sr. India a.k.a. Indey, was born on March 4, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in south Baltimore. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, and continued her education at Baltimore City Community College, receiving certification in Early Childhood Education. When India lived on Elderon Avenue, she cared for numerous children from in and out of the neighborhood in her home. India later became a substitute teacher at Grove Park Elementary School. She also taught artistic children, served as an election Judge for the Baltimore City for many years, and supervisor at the Kenilworth Apartments. India was a dedicated and loving"Mother," who had unconditional love for her three children, family and friends. Her unique personality, warm smile and joyful spirit gained her numerous friends wherever she went. Indey loved football, especially the Baltimore Ravens. She would always say "Don't disturb me when the "Ravens' are on." she also spent time putting puzzles together, play her handheld poker machine, slot machines, lottery, cooking and let us not forget "Cleaning"" and watching her great granddaughter Riyan, who she called Pump-Pump and her BFF Best Friends Forever. India leaves to cherish her memories with her three children; Reginald H. Lemon, Jr., Thorn E. Lemon, Sr., and Carla F. Lemon; grandchildren, Thorn E. Lemon, Jr., Ashley Dunston, Shatia Dailey, Lauren Whyte, tiara Green, and Rashad Dailey; great-grandchildren, Karon Dailey and Riyan Mercer BFF; sisters and brothers, Annette, Ernestine, Donald, Flora, Joseph, Thomas, Larry, Paul, and Marlene; preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth, Melvin, Brenda and Hezzie, Jr.;two adopted daughters, Jacqueline Daley and Anita Spruill; ex=husband, Reginald H. Lemon, Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Cecelia Wilson and the late Bernadette Ross; a host of nieces, nephews, many extended family members, and a host of friends.
