Obituary

Inez Carter, daughter of the late William Henry and Lillian Burley was born on February 11 th, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on February 25th, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Inez received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Inez worked several jobs before starting her family. She then met and married the late Robert Carter (M. Turner) and from this union were nine children. Inez loved being at home raising her children so much that she decided not to return to the workforce until her children were older. At that time she went to work for the City of Baltimore, and after years of dedicated service she retired to take care of her husband. Inez always expressed her love for the Lord. As a child, Inez accepted Christ as a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Balti- more. Later in life she became a member of The New Light Church: Ministry of St. Luke 4: 18-19 INC. where she enjoyed praise, worship and receiving the word. Inez truly loved The New Light Church family and she talked about her pastor often. Despite all of her pain and illness, she never let go of her faith in God and continued to praise Him. Inez also known as Mommy Cakes, Aunt Inee, Grandma, and friend was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Her infectious smile would just warm your heart. She had a sweet demeanor, she was easy to talk to, and would do anything for her family and friends. Inez would never hesitate to prepare her favorite dishes for her family and friends, as an expression of her love ... especially her potato salad. Inez also loved music and dancing, and was truly the life of the party, and she would leave the family in awe with her unique dance moves. Inez will truly be missed as the Matriarch of her family, but her loving spirit and sweet smile will never be forgotten. She leaves to mourn: children, Vicky & Willie Doughty, Ivan & Theresa Turner, Ervin Turner, Maxine & Garry Lewis and step- daughter, Phyllis Dorsey; twenty eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
