Obituary

Jack Jack Forrest Campbell was born on June 11, 1937 in Virgina to the late Hildred Alma Gillison and the late Roy Campbell. He entered quietly into perfect rest on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Joseph Ritchie Hospice after a brief stay. Jack was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. For many years he ws a supervisor at Montebello State Hospital where he worked as a horticulturist, dealing with lawns, flowers, trees, etc... Jack had many friends that loved him very much. Leroy James used to pick up every Sunday to go to an outside playground to watch the basketball league. Jack would call Leroyevery Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and would say, ''I am ready to play!'' Even though he had been ill for several years he never let his illness stop him from living each day to its fullest. Jack had a ling relationship with Barbara Clark and he loved his stepchildren and grandchildren very much. If you tried to call him at home and could not reach him, you could find him at his favorite spot Keith's Variety Store, or sitting on the wall next to the store. Even though many people didn't know how sick Jack really was he still managed tospend special time with his family and was always taking pictures. When his health began to deteriorate he had his sidekick with him,. his nephew Keith. Keith would cook, clean, do his laundry and on many occasions would go to the hospital and stay with him. Jack had a devoted neighbor, Donald that would check on him and transport him wherever he needed to go. Jack fought a long and hard battle with the strength and willingness to live that amazed his family as well as his medical team. He never complained even though he knew he was terminally ill. He would tell his sister Ruthie, ''I want to live.'' When the end grew near he was lovingly cared for by his sister Ruth and his niece Rhoda. Jack leaves to cherish his memories his brother Sherman Hope; sister Ruth Sye; a brother and sister that preceded him in death, Virginia and Earl Campbell; a dear friend Barbara; three stepchildren Cheron, Kevin and Terry; three grandchildren, Ayah, Monae and Taivon; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
