Jacqulin Doggett, daughter of the late Joe and Shirlene Doggett, was born on December 20,
1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. She departed this life suddenly on March 3,2016.
As a small child she moved from Norfolk, Virginia to Scotland Neck, North Carolina,
with her family. It was there that she attended her early elementary school years and where
she met her longterm sweetheart Robert Earl Powell. At the age of eight in the early 1960's,
Jacqulin and her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she continued her education
at Robert Brown Elementary School/Junior High School and Carver Vocational Senior High
School.
Jacqulin Doggett or "Jack", was a member at Ames Memorial AME Church and started
her employment at the University of Maryland Baltimore County University, as a house-
keeper. She later began working at Towson State University in food service and was a well
loved and devoted employee there until her recent passing. She worked there for a period of
34 years. During her time there she built a very close relationship with her coworker Verna.
Jacqulin Doggett loved her children deeply and enjoyed visiting them in the many places
that they each lived. She was known to play and joke with many of the children in the family
along with being a stern disciplinarian. She would help anyone that needed anything and had
a collection of pictures from family, friends and anyone else that gave her a picture. You
would come over her house and see any and everyone hanging up on her walls or framed.
Some of her favorite things to do were to eat crabs, drinking Pepsi, going to the casino,
traveling (especially down south with her sisters, niece and nephews) and of course playing
scratch offs and the lotto. She spent countless hours on the porch laughing with her sisters,
riding around with her nephews and on the phone with her nieces.
The things that her family and friends will remember most about her are her delicious
fried chicken, sweet tea and steamy crab soup, along with her playful balled up fist threats,
laugh and love for the Charlie Brown movie. If you ever went to her home, you couldn't
miss her deep love for chickens that were everywhere (on the walls, counters, stands and in
the bathroom).
Her sudden departure is very difficult for the family and we will each carry her in our
hearts.
