IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jamal M.
Gaylord
December 22, 1968 – July 7, 2019
Jamal Malik Gaylord son of Malvena Palmer and the late Bobby
Gaylord, was born on December 22, 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. He
departed this life suddenly on Sunday, July 7, 2019.
Jamal accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He loved studying
the bible and ministering to others about the Lord. Jamal was generous
in spirit and in deeds. Our family could always depend on Jamal to lead
us in prayer especially before we took bus trips. Not only was he a
blessing to those he knew and loved, Jamal often donated clothing and
money to the homeless and those in need. He reminded everyone to
"Keep God First".
Jamal received his education in the Prince George's County public-
school system. When he was only 10 years old, he knew what he
wanted to do with his life. Jamal said that he was going to be a truck
driver just like his Uncle Wiley. At the age of21, he earned Commer-
cial Drivers License (CDL) and began a career as a tractor-trailer
driver for various companies. Determined to be his own boss, Jamal
purchased trucks and became the proud owner and operator of Gaylord
Enterprises, LLC. He was happiest when driving from coast to coast in
his big rig, which he named "Big Baby". His famous saying was "Ride
with UR Boi".
Jamal was a fun-loving and kindhearted man. He had a genuine love
and passion for comedy. At family gatherings, he would often tell
jokes and funny stories. Because of his unique personality, he was
affectionately known by several nicknames. To his grandmother, he
was "Mawgy"; Aunt Thelma called him "Sonny Boy"; Aunt Lue called
him "Moose" and to his lifelong PG County friends he was known as
"Bam Bam". Jamal made numerous friends wherever he went and will
surely be missed by everyone who knew him.
Jamal leaves to mourn: his mother, Malvena Palmer; children, Jemell
and Janae Gaylord; grandchildren, Bella and Religion; brother, Eric
Palmer; sisters, Cherrelle and Shavon Palmer, Adaja Lipscomb;
Grandmother, Bernice Gaylord; Aunts, Patricia (Joseph) Gaylord
Johnson and Jean Gaylord-Johnson; Great-Aunt, Thelma Frierson;
Uncles, Michael Magwood, Milton (Bonnie) Magwood, Darnell (No-
ra) Gaylord; and hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and Man's Best
Friends, Riley and Smokey.
