James K. Barksdale, son of the late James Keys and Lillie Barksdale was

born on April 22, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. James departed this life

on July 31,2019 after a brief illness.

James received his education in the Baltimore City Public School Sys-

tem. James had various jobs, he retired in 2002.

J ames was baptized at an early age at Memorial Baptist Church. Later he

joined New Bethlehem Baptist Church.

James was the oldest of 15 children, 7 has preceded him in death, two

brothers Walter and Michael Barksdale, five sisters, Vivian Barksdale,

Mildred Smith, Olivia, Ellen and Berthina Keys.

James met the love of his life Gloria Jones when he was 18 years old, they

were together for 28 years when she passed away. Sometime later he met

and married Nancy and she passed away 10 years ago. James met Rona

Battles in 2010, Rona was a very loving and caring friend who was there

for him no matter what.

James loved playing Pinochle and Spades all the time. He loved his

. family very much. James had a very special bond with his nieces and

nephews. They truly, truly loved their Uncle James.

James leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Nanny Williams, Caro-

lyn and Evelyn Keys; four brothers, George and Fred Barksdale, Howard

and James Keys; a very good friend, Mr. Floyd; his very special lady,

Rona Battles and a host of other relatives and friends.
