James Herbert (Hubbard) Coles was born in Baltimore Maryland on May 28, 1932, to the late Virgil Coles, Sr. and Hattie Lee McLendon. He was the fifth of eleven children (5 boys and 6 girls ).
He departed this life on July 2,2017, suffering from a lengthy illness. He was raised in a loving Christian home and was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Herbert or Hubbard is what his friends and family affectionately called him. During his working career he was a truck driver for United Iron and Metal and a heavy equipment operator. He also possessed other special skills, as an auto mechanic, handyman and being the jack of all trades. He was very good with his hands. He was often called upon by family and friends to lend a helping hand. He also drove buses for special needs children. Herbert was very humorous and a funny guy and was the constant source of entertainment, during even the smallest gathering of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Coles; daughter Deborah Coles Taylor, son Ronald Coles, two sisters, Ethel Coles and Rose Bullock, four brothers,Robert, Virgil Jr., Eugene and Jerry.
He leaves to mourn three sons, Warren Dale, Stanly Harrison and James Kelvin Coles (Nicole), three daughters, Gloria Dean, Denise Coles Taylor and Therese Taylor, four sisters, Wilhelmina Van Dyke, Gloria Freeland, Nellie Howard and Paulette Joyner (Leon) and five sisters-in-law, Doreen Coles, Emma Pearl, Pearlinda Waldon, Dorcas Taylor and Goldie Sanders, brother-in-law Samuel Taylor and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew and cousins, three special friends, Ms. Lil, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Deionna.
He had a caring thoughtful manner, which endeared him to everyone. He leaves to cherish his memory all who knew and loved him
