IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Cooper
December 20, 1933 – April 2, 2019
James Cooper was born in Marianna, Florida on December 20,
1933 to the late George Cooper Sr. and Eteva Cooper. He
departed this life on April 2, 2019 at 8:30 am.
At an early age he was raised in First Born Church of the
Living God. He received his formal education in the Marianna
County Florida School System.
On October 3, 1957 he was honorably discharged from the
U.S. Army services.
In 1967 he met Sandra Almond in New York City and from
this union Renee was born. Three years later they were blessed
with Darryl Jay. He came to Baltimore in 1988, where he
began working for the Rouse Company as Maintenance De-
partment Supervisor. He was employed there for over 10 years
until he retired in 1996.
Now in his years of relaxation, he enjoyed fishing with his
friend Robert Godley, out on the boat and later sharing fish
with the neighbors.
There was no doubt that he loved his family. Taking family
trips where the grandchildren called him Pop-Pop all the way
as he sang the blues songs. Other good times took place at the
birthday parties, cookouts, and card games of Spades and
Pinochle. Not to mention, how he enjoyed sitting on the front
porch talking with his neighbors:
He is survived by: his wife, Sandra partner and love of his life
for 52 years; daughter, Renee of Baltimore, MD; loving sons,
Darryl Jay Sr. and his fiance LaTosha of Baltimore, MD and
Charles Davis of New York; brother, Clarence Cooper of
Miami, FL; sister-in-law, Allene P. Cooper of Miami, FL; his
six grandchildren, Darryl Jr., Markel, Danaesha, Jayla, Jayrell
and Tyler; best friend, Robert Godley; a host of nieces, neph-
ews, other relatives and friends.
