Davenport
March 26, 1954 – February 8, 2022
James Emmanuel Davenport, son of the late James Clayton Davenport
and Loretha Foster Davenport, was born on March 26, 1954. He
departed this life on February 8, 2022, at Sinai Hospice Care, after a
short illness.
James the 2nd to oldest of eleven siblings, received his formal
education at Sugar Folk Elementary in Cumberland County, VA. He
moved to Baltimore, MD, with his family while still a young child,
where he completed his education at Luther P. Alcott Elementary,
Pimlico Junior High, and Edmondson/Westside Senior High. After
graduation, he worked briefly at Reliable Asphalt Contracting
Company. Shortly after on July 7, 1972, he joined The United States
Army, where he served for 3 years until being honorably discharged
on May 31, 1975. Soon after he worked for American Asphalt
Company for seven years. James worked several jobs before
becoming a painter for The Veterans Hospital, where they took an
immediate interest in him; he was later appointed the position of
Nursing Assistant where he served until retirement.
On May 10, 1996 he married the love of his life, Linda Davenport,
she matched his fly and he was her "Chocolate Chip". James who
was known as "Boo Boo" or "Boo".
, was a laid back, smooth talking,
slick dressing man. He loved spending time with his family,
watching western movies, and cheering on his favorite football team
"The Baltimore Ravens". He had a passion for music, especially,
"The Whispers". He never ended a conversation without saying I
LOVE YOU HEAR, no matter how short or how long. His loving
kindness, infectious smile, and helping hand will be missed by all
He was preceded in death by two sisters Mildred & Patricia, and his
brother Wilbert.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Linda Davenport; four
step-sons, Terrance, Larvon, Tyson (Jean Bradford), and Lavada;
one step-daughter, Dawn; one sister, Annette; six brothers, Thomas
Kenneth, John, Maurice, Anthony, Danzelle; nine sister-in-laws,
Linda, Lynda, Toni, Muriel, Kimberly, Teresa, Adrianna, Glenda,
and Deborah; Grand-daughter, Diamond, whom he formed a special
bond with; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
