IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James E
Evans
March 21, 1967 – January 3, 2025
James Evans, son of Derby and Brenda Evans was born on March 21, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on January 3, 2025. James, received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools System. James was employed with the City of Baltimore, Department of Water and Wastewater for eleven years until his passing. James loved and took pride in his work, as was obvious in him excelling through the ranks to the position of Utility Meter Technician III.
James, "Tokyo," as he was known by family and friends, was always quick to share his infectious smile. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend and was deeply respected by those who cared for him. James was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever possible. James enjoyed life, hanging out at family and friend's functions, dancing and cracking jokes. When James arrived, he always asked, "what can I do, do you need anything?" After that it was time for fun, whether entertaining others or being entertained. His laugh was as infectious as his smile, and his laugh was genuine. James was the person that family called when they needed to be moved, needed something fixed, or to be taken to doctors' appointments. And if he said he would be there, you could count on him to show up. Despite his outgoing nature James was often content to stand quietly in the background. He did not seek recognition for his deeds; he did what he did out of love, commitment and a desire to help others. James will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his son, James Ir., daughter Shantese and brother Anthony (Tony).
He leaves to mourn his death his parents Brenda Evans and Derby Evans (Delores); daughters Nekia, Shandria, Jasmine and Semaj, siblings Maxine Holmes, Antoinette Evans, Michael Evans, Ronald Evans, Angela Smith (Eric), Linnese Crawford (James), Derby Evans, James Young (Ruby) and Maurice Young (Ebony);grandchildren, Anasia, Semaj'e, James, Jalen, Makiya, Kaylei-Mason, Gervontae Jr., Jason Jr., Kyshawn, Kaiyan and Dallas; devoted friend Ann McDuffie; aunt Bertha Barber; sister-in-law Jacqueline Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
