James Alvin Forbes Sr. , the son of the late Mary Louis Forbes and the
late Blount Whichard was born on July 17, 1939 in New York.

He was educated in Public Schools of Greenville, North Carolina were he
met and married Lucille Whitehurst and out of this union came two
children, Carolyn and Jacqueline.

He moved to Norfolk, VA in 1964 and worked for Mary Jane Bakery for
over twenty years.

He met Shirley Long in that union came two children, Helena Long and
James Alvin Forbes Jr.

He later moved to Baltimore, MD and worked at Baltimore Asphalt and
Baltimore Housing Authority until his health failed him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Carolyn Forbes of New
York, Jacqueline Billington (one son-in-law, Eugene Billington) of Tifton,
GA, Helena Long of Baltimore, MD and Fran Woodley of Murfreesboro,
North Carolina and James Alvin Forbes who preceded him in death; 8
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren one in particular, Alvin helped raise
Deamarion Lassiter and a special companion in life, Carolyn Deloatch of
Baltimore, MD; a host of dear friends and relatives, cousins, nieces and
nephews.
