Obituary

James J. Foster son of the late James and Annie Laura Foster, was born on October 25, 1929 in Emporia, Virginia. He departed this life on October 19, 2008 after a lengthy illness. After moving to Baltimore with his family as a child, James received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. James accepted Christ at an early age in life and grew up in the Little Ark Baptist Church family. James enlisted into the United States Army. During his enlistment in the Army, he served and fought in World War II and Korean War. Because of his heroism and bravery, he received three Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, a Medal of Valor and other medals. He was honorably discharged from the Army, then he started working for Bethleham Steel at Sparrows Point and after thirty years of service, he retired. In 1968 James married Mary V. Hall Foster. James was a loving husband and father who centered his life around his wife Mary and family. He was a very caring and giving person who would go out of his way to help anyone. James Pops was especially crafted with his hands, as he could fix or rebuild anything a person would give him. Pops made numerous friends wherever he went and is sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always a true friend and a devoted family man. James leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Mary V. Foster; three daughters, Pat, Carolyn and Rachel; two sons, Clinton and Ricky son James P. Foster preceded him in death; brother, Charles SallahuDin; son-in-law, Malcar Waters Jr.; aunt Gladys Wilkes Perkins; fouty-four grandchildren, seventy-one great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
