Obituary

James Henry Davis was born on April 21, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the fifth of ten children born to the late Jack and Jessie Davis. On June 22, 2007, James, affectionatelly known as ''Bunch'', peacefully departed this life. At an early age, Bunch accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at Fountain Baptist Church. He later joined St. Paul Baptist Church, and attended services until his illness prevented regular attendance. While ill, Bunch participated in Bible Study in his home. His unfaltering faith, humility, and quiet dignity allowed him to enjoy life without complaining during his illness. Bunch was educated in the Baltimore City School System. He served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. Over the years, Bunch worked for several employers including: Baltimore Transit Company/MTA, Edgewood Arsenal, and Martin's Seafood Company, where he retired after more than 10 years of employment as a truck driver. Bunch met and married geraldine Johnson. From that union, they were blessed with three sons: James, Jerome, and Hershaw, and three daughters: Cassandra, Jacqueline, and Michele. Bunch was a very creative and skilled person with mny talents and interests. He was an excellent artist who had the ability to replicate human images. He enjoyed playing handheld games, pool, and cards. Bunch was also an avidd sports fan, and enjoyed watching soap operas. He was a meticulous gardener who took great pride in his work. His family will fondly remember him as a fun-loving practical joker. Bunch was preceded in death by his daughter, Cassandra Davis; his sisters, Berthel, Ganell, Marie, and Edna; and his only brother and dearest friend, Albert ''Mel'' Davis. God leaves to rejoice in Bunch's homegoing: his wife,Geraldine Davis; his daughters, Shera Bryant, Jacqueline Ford of Wilmington, Delware, and Michele Baker; his sons, James Dvis, Jerome Davis of Highland, IN, and Hershaw Davis; his grandchildren, Cherrese, Shawn, Monica, Kim,Desmona, Jenelle, Hershaw Jr; Joyce, Tavanya, LaWann, Bernetta, Terrell, and Joshua; his great-grandchildren, Carlos, LeSean, Donovan, Robert, Eric, Anthony, Cedrick, Sean,Chetor, Kenny, Keyaira, Naya-Shae, Darrell, Kayla, Kyle, Camillus, Mikeal, Mikayla, Mariah, and Kaden; two loving and devoted sisters, Jean L. Taylor and Elroy Cruse; two brothers-in-law, Deacon Benjamin Taylor and Elroy Cruse; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Davis and Angela Davis; two sons-in-law, Russell Bryant and Paul Ford; many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
