IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Earl
Jones, Jr
July 23, 1970 – February 16, 2021
James Earl Jones Jr., affectionately known as "Jimmy Jones," was born on July 23,1970 to James Earl Jones Sr. and Carolyn Jones, and was raised by Alvin Polk Sr. He received his wings on February 16, 2021.
Preceding him in death are his grandmothers Inez Fulton and Mildred Fauntleroy, grandfather Richard Dunn, mother-in-law Bridgette Pryor, and step sister Marie Polk.
He grew up in the Park Heights neighborhood before moving to Harford Road where he spent many years. He later lived in the Chinquapin Parkway area of Northeast Baltimore where he went on to raise his family. James attended Hilton Elementary School and Hamilton Middle School and was a Northern High School graduate. He attended Morgan State University.
James was a club music legend. He established his title as club king early on, starting from house parties on Harford Road, to college parties, to the club scene. He became a part of multiple music labels/companies, including Unruly Records, Crooked Streetz Entertainment, Bmore Original, his own label Jimbo Records, and of course, Doo Dew Kidz with members Grant "Booman" Burley and Kenneth "KW Griff" Wilkens. In 1993, he released what would become one of his biggest club hits to date, "Watch Out for the Big Girl" which is known worldwide.
James was the light and life of any party. He was the protector, always making sure that everyone was taken care of. Known to always keep people laughing, James would often pull pranks, crack jokes, and tell funny stories. He was an influencer of music and fashion, regularly shopping for and showing up in the latest fashion. He was a savior, a provider, a protector, and a counselor to many. And this is just a few of his characteristics that will be missed by many.
James leaves behind to carry his memory forever: his mother Carolyn Jones, his father Alvin Polk Sr, his wife Laceyia "Kia" Pryor, four sisters: Shontelle Jones, Alvana Tammy Williams, Camille Trice Polk, and Antree Edwards, one brother: Darent Polk, two daughters: Chasity Pryor and Deanna Jones, two sons: Deshawn Givens and Jawan Jones, one grandson: Ziaire Givens, one godson: Grant Burley III, one niece: Keira Holmes, six nephews: Shon Wright, Brian Williams, Cameron Burden, Jaren Polk, Jaxon Polk, and Corsley Edwards III, one great nephew: Kyron Wright, three brothers-in-law: Jay Williams, Corsley Edwards II, and Quincy Burden, and a father-in-law John Larry Pryor
He also leaves behind three step sisters Barbara, Ann, and Angela, three step brothers David, Alvin, and George, childhood friends Grant "Booman" Burley and Kenneth "KW Griff" Wilkens, and a host of other family and friends.
