James, "Jimmy" or "Jimmy Woo" as he was affectionately known, Roland Lee, was born on January 22, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland to James R. Lee and Edith Forrest Lee. He departed this life on Saturday, July 12,20]4. James was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and earned his GED while in the Job Corps. James served in the U.S. Army in 1968, during the Vietnam Conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1970. After earning certification in child development at Morgan State University, he embarked on a career within the Juvenile Justice System which spanned over 30 years, culminating in his retirement in 20] 2. In July, 1978 James was united in Holy Matrimony to Joan Hill. From that union they had one son, Devin. Jimmy and Joan had a wonderful, loving, caring relationship that included fostering other children, a love of animals, travel, flea market expeditions, enjoying family and friends, and church. Some of Jimmy's favorite activities were bowling, shooting pool, roller skating, chess, listening to oldies and playing pinochle. He loved playing tennis, but he discovered that tennis wouldn't be his strong suit. On November 22, 1992, Jimmy joined New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon in June, 1996, and was appointed Chairman of the Deacon Board in April, 2001. Jimmy was very committed to his office of deacon and Chairman of the Deacon Board. James leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Joan, four sons, James (Cecelia), Devin, Alvin, and Mark, and daughter, Robin, his mother, Edith M. Lee, one sister, Doris Lyles, two brothers, Kenneth, and Bishop Paul E.Lee (Carolyn); he was predeceased by his brother Peter Lee; a sister-in-law, Juanita Samuel (Fred), two brothers-in-law, Tyrone and Shaheed (Sheila). Jimmy also leaves to celebrate and cherish his memory, two granddaughters; Anye, "the apple of his eye," and Cheyney, four grandsons, Domonic, Aaron, Brandon, and Jerard; three aunts, Jean (Ernest), Blanche (George), and Linda; two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Zora; godchildren, Tiffany, Kim, Kelly c., Bria of Fayetteville, NC , Khazmin, Jordan, and Angelo, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
