July 4, 1951 – November 24, 2017
James Delroy Mayers was the son of Victoria Rose and James Ollie Mayers. He was born at University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland on July 4th, 1951. Educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and attended Northwestern High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged. Over ten years ago, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior.
He married Deborah Scott and to their union was born Tamiko Denette Mayers. In November, 1975, he married Beaulah "Helen" Boyd Mayers and to their union was born Terra Dee Mayers and James Delroy Mayers II aka "J.R.".
J ames was employed as a corrections officer in Jessup Maryland, and later realized his dream as a Truck Driver and was employed as a Teamster under North Penn, Yellow, and Red Ball Trucking Company. His most recent employer was Baltimore Car and Rental, Inc. located in Jessup, Maryland, and he stated that he was "doing what I want to do" as he realized his passion.
Delroy was a loving son, devoted brother, dedicated father and grandfather and affectionately called "Pop Pop", ensuring that he celebrated every accomplishment even traveling to see dance recitals, and competitions, whenever possible.
Delroy loved to dance, enjoyed listening to music, cooking, riding motorcycles, swimming at the beach, amusement parks, roller skating, deep sea fishing, and traveling. His mother, brothers, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends often accompanied him on these outings.
On Friday, November 24, 2017, he entered into eternal rest. To cherish his memory, he leaves two daughters, Tamiko of Charlotte, North Carolina, Terra (Cedric) of Lithonia, Georgia, one son, James of London, England, two granddaughters, Cameron, and Bailey Johnson, mother, Victoria Rose, two brothers, Sorrell Ennis and Rodney Ennis, a dedicated and loving friend Jacqueline Wiggins, two sons in love, an aunt, Candy Hill, a host of brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Emma Powell, his father, Mr. James O. Mayers, his sisters, Connie, Ruth, and Doris, and brother, Reginald Sr.
