JAMES LEE MCDOWELL was born on February 10, 1927 in Bristol, Tennessee. He departed this life on April 7, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He received his education in Bristol, Tennessee. At the age of 17, he entered into the U.S. Armed Forces where he served 2 years, receiving an honorable discharge. He then moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he worked as an Baltimore City Firefighter for 25 years. He was a faithful member of the Vulcan Blazers until his departure after retiring from the Baltimore City Fire Department he became the owner of Cab #459 for 20 years. He also worked for the State of Maryland as a Security Officer. He attended Bethel A.M.E. Church as well as family churches in Washington D.C. and Tennessee. James was known to his loving children, family and friends as "Mackie, Daddy, Uncle Jimmie and Bro. Buddy." Mackie loved his weekly trips to Sam's where he stocked up his basement like he was getting ready for war. He had enough toilet paper for the whole State of Tennessee. (lol) He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Florence McDowell of 0 years; five sons, James Jr., Michael, Geary, Anthony, Pernell, and Cyrus; two daughters" drey, Pamela Spriggs; seven stepchildren, Belinda, Angela, Marian, Kenneth, Micbael, Jeffrey, and Jackie; one daughter in-law, Deborah; one loving aunt, Alethia Washington; two nephews of D.C., J.
