JamesL.Miller, Jr. (affectionately known as Junie), was born to the late JamesL.Miller, Sr., and Lois Miller, on May 24, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on August2, 2020 after a lengthy illness.
Junie received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools system where he was an extremely talented basketball player. He worked as a construction worker for many years and studied brick laying until he became ill and was no longer able to work.
At a young age, he met Joanne Barnett and from this union they had three children: James L. Miller, III., Derrick Miller, and A'Tiya Miller. He later married Wanda Tucker, whom he met in elementary school; from this union he gained two stepdaughters: Lakia Averett and Lavanda Lewis-Ragin. Junie's pride and joys in his life was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an immensely proud and protective father and grandfather and he always spokeof them with themost impeccable smile.
Junie was well known around East Baltimore and was often the life of the party. He was always a joyful and playful person with a heartofgold. He enjoyed family gatherings which included eating, playing Pokeno, playing cards,anddoing his famous"June Bug"dance with his niecesandnephews. If he ever told you he loved you, he meantit. Asa child he was taught by his parents the importance of family andtoalways look out for one another. He loved his brother and sisters and he knew exactly how to win them over.
Hewould let everybody know, "my sisters LOVE me'' or mysisters got me" and he was right! They always had Junie'sback and he reciprocated the same for them. He will be sincerely missed.
He leaves to mourn: His wife: Wanda Miller; one brother: Maurice Driver (Theresa); four sisters: Shelley Jowers, Wanda Davis (Maurice), Zina Miller, and Tammy Pettiford (Calvin); three children: James L. Miller, III, Derrick Miller (who preceded him in death), and A'Tiya Miller; two step-daughters: Lakia Averett and Lavanda Lewis-Ragin; eleven grandchildren: Ra'Kiya Smallwood, Darnell Hutchins, Derrick Miller, Jr, DeMarco Kittrell, DeReon Miller, Ja'Era Taylor, Parker Miller, La'Shae Taylor, Tykera Suggs, Donje Lewis, Lavar Ragin; three great-grandchildren: Derrick Miller, III,Alia Watkins, and Alexandria Gray; two living aunts: Estelle Cornish (William) and Lovina Lowery; several cousins with whom he shared close bonds, especially Larry (Fuzie) Owens;and a host o f nieces, nephews, and friends.
