IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James L.
Murphy, Jr.
February 13, 1958 – May 25, 2019
James "Jamie" Lee Murphy Jr. was born February 13, 1958 in Baltimore, Mary-
land to Grace Matilda Anderson and James Lee Murphy Sr. Jamie received his
education from the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon graduating from
Baltimore City College High School, he attended Baltimore City Community
College where he became a member of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Incorporated.
After completion of his college education, Jamie enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps, where he proudly served for 3 years and honorably. discharged.
After completing his military service, Jamie went into the world of cooperate
America, landing his first job at Baltimore Federal and moving on some years later
to Legg Mason where he sold stocks and bonds. His love of education and the
betterment of his community led him to teach at Dickeyville Nursery School as
well as becoming a substitute teacher for well over four years throughout Balti-
more City. Jamie transitioned into managerial occupations at various McDonald's
restaurants and into his final place of employment at the Pall Corporation.
Jamie was always very fashion forward and dressed to the "nines" when he
stepped on the social scene. He loved a well-tailored suits and classy footwear.
Jamie enjoyed hanging out with friends and family especially talking trash at
various sporting events, his love for the Miami Heat basketball team and Balti-
more Ravens was well known by all. His love of art and music was unmatched; he
regularly attended various art shows and jazz music concerts. Music was the heart
and soul of his day, you could catch him putting on his own personal concerts
while he cleaned his home or washed his car in the backyard. Fitness and healthy
eating was by far Jamie's favorite past time; he worked out almost daily either
lifting weights, riding his bicycle around the reservoir or taking a few laps around
the local track. He would always strongly encourage everyone he knew to do the
same.
In all that Jamie accomplished, the best and most esteemed accomplishment was
being the world's best dad to his daughter Ebony. He loved his daughter and was
always so proud of everything she did from learning to ride a bike, learning to
drive, graduating college and striking out on her own. Jamie supported all of her
hopes and aspirations and loved her with every ounce of love he had to give.
Left with loving memories: his parents, James and Grace; his daughter, Ebony; his
stepchildren, Darryl, Jamar, Devin and Jonae; his two brothers, Michael and
Lloyd; his niece, Nichole; two nephews, Lloyd Jr. and Jarod; sister-in-law, Lisa
and a host of other relatives, friends and co-workers.
We will continue to celebrate Jamie in the best style possible and the footprint he
has left on our hearts. Until we meet again!
