James Earl Pearson Jr., the son of the late Earl and Addie Lee Pearson, was born on AprilS, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on December 23,2013 at 2:30 am after a lengthy illness. He received his formal education through the Baltimore School system where he attended Carter G. Woodson Elementary, Cherry Hill Junior High and Southern Senior High School, graduating in 1965. As a youth, James dedicated numerous years in the local chapter of Boy Scouts and the Explorers. While attending Southern High, James lettered as a stalwart defensive lineman where he was recognized for his accomplishments and given the nickname 'Bear' as a sign of respect on the gridiron. After graduating high school, James was immediately employed at Waverly Press Publishing Company as a Professional Printer for the next 29 years. In 1993, Waverly Press was completely acquired by Cadmus Journal Services and improved operations through technological advances. Determined to maintain his long and illustrious employment status, James later earned two undergraduate certifications through Catonsville Community College of Baltimore. Thus, allowing him to complete 12 further years in the company. He attended First Baptist Church of Cherry Hill for over 50 years and served on the male choir and remained an active member until he took ill during the year of 2009. James who was known to all as 'Jim' was totally devoted to family. He embraced all who met him including members of our extended family and in the community. Jim leaves to mourn: a special devoted friend in Sadie Shands; his sister, Juanita Burgess; a brother, Tony Pearson; three nephews, Sean, Victor and Marlan; three nieces, Jeneen, Shasmine and Shan ice; two cousins, Elaine White and Barbara Summerville; three step children, Jean, Patri- cia and Richard and a host of other relatives and friends.
