James Gregory Pitt, affectionately known as "Seedie" was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 12, 1952 to the parents of James Pitt Sr. and Hilda Smith, and stepfather Lester Smith. He departed this life on July 16, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

He received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. James worked at various jobs throughout his lifetime, including Lutheran Hospital and construction work at the downtown Inner Harbor. Seedie was funny, and he was the "Life of the Party." He loved to dance and loved to dress. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. Anyone that knew him loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving companion of many years, Barbara Roary, 8 children, Tonya Pitt, Nicole Mulazim, Bonita Pitt, Lynette Pitt, Rashied Pitt, Charles Pitt, James Pitt, Javonne Pitt, 5 sisters" Shirley Hooper, Debra Hooper, Evonne Hooper, Michelle Hooper, and JoyceAnn, 28 grandchildren, 7 great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
