Obituary

JAMES ARTHUR PITTS SR. lovingly known as “Pitts” and “Buddy,” departed this life peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on June 15, 1945, James lived a life filled with love, laughter, family traditions, and unforgettable memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

James was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received his education through Baltimore City Public Schools. He was known for his calm spirit, wisdom, humor, and unwavering love for his family. James carried himself with quiet strength and was the type of man whose presence alone brought comfort to those around him.

In 1964, James met the love of his life, Alice Cecelia Pitts, and the two were united in holy matrimony in 1966. Their marriage was built on genuine love, loyalty, friendship, and devotion. ‘Together, they created a beautiful family and shared a bond that many admired. If you saw Alice, you saw Pitts right beside her. Their love story stood the test of time and became the foundation of their family.

Out of this union, God blessed them with two beloved children, Christine Pitts and James Pitts Jr. James took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

James truly enjoyed life and found happiness in the simple things. He loved listening to oldies but goodies music that could instantly bring back memories and good times. Whether relaxing at home or surrounded by family, music was always playing nearby. He enjoyed playing cards, playing the lottery, sharing laughs, testing his luck gambling, and taking memorable trips to Atlantic City with family and friends over the years.

James also loved good food and good company. He was known for enjoying steamed crabs, Popeyes chicken, and KEC, especially while gathered around loved ones sharing stories and laughter, Family gatherings meant everything to him, and he cherished the moments spent talking, joking, and creating lasting memories. He had a warm personality, a great sense of humor, and a loving heart. James was the kind of man who made people feel welcomed and comfortable. He valued family deeply and believed in staying connected with the people he loved. His wisdom, presence, and steady spirit became a source of strength and comfort for many generations within the family.
