JAMES DAVID REDD, son of the late James Edward Redd and the late
Omenta Owens, was born on November 23, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He departed this life on August 9, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
James or "Jim" as he was lovingly called received his education in the
Baltimore City Public School System. He entered the United States Marine
Corps in 1972 serving as a Chef. Sergeant James David Redd received
an honorable discharge in 1981 after 9 years of devoted service, He was
employed at Franklin Square Hospital for 32 years until his illness no
longer allowed him to work. In addition to working at Franklin Square
Hospital, James worked for the Department of Recreation and Parks where
he coached basketball and football at Collington Square Recreation Center
for many years. James loved all sports but basketball was his favorite. He
would talk to you for hours about basketball statistics even if you weren't
willing to listen. James would even take 2 weeks of vacation from work
every year to watch March Madness.
On September 8, 1988, James was united in holy matrimony to the love
of his life, Sheila Paulette. During this union they raised eight children:
Erica, James, Tierra, Norman, Earl (who preceded him in death), Courtney,
Collins, and Stephanie. They also cared for many foster children and James
was a father figure to many boys and young men in the community.

in 1989. James loved the Lord and enjoyed praise and worship. While
attending Evans Temple Memorial Church of God, James was ordained as
a deacon.
James was a loving person with a kind and gentle spirit. He made
numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely and truly missed
by everyone who knew him. He was a true friend and a devoted family
