Obituary

Janie Alfreda Brooks, daughter of the late Eva and James Stewart, departed this life early Sunday, June 18, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Janie was born June 14, 1949, in Baltimore City. She attended St. Peter Claver's Catholic School and Harlem Park High School, in Baltimore City. Janie met and fell in love with Tyrone Brooks. The couple wed in 1958 and from this union two daughters were born. In later years Janie was blessed with another daughter and son. Janie was a willing, able and hard worker. She excelled in anything she attemped to do . She was employed for several years in domestic service, spending the last part of her life in retail. Anyone who knew Janie would remember her energetic, spirit, generosity and love of music and children. Children semed to be drawn to Janie and vice-versa. Janie was a child at heart and always enjoyed seeing the children having a good time. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren. Her love of music and singing was well known. She could sit for hours with family and friends and sing her songs, especially ''At Last'' by Etta James. She truly had a love for life and good times. Janie was also a loving and caring person. Janie cared for her Mother, Father. Sister and Aunt until the day they passed, ensuring their needs were taken care of and their comfort levels were at the maxium. She was also her cousin, Delores' 'right-hand man', whenever she needed her. You could be assured that if you were in need. Janie would be there! She truly reached out and touched the hearts of everyone she could. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed. She leaves to mourn her children, Tyra Brooks, Donna Logan, Andrea Brooks and Kevin Dargan; five grandchildren, Danielle, Bary, Alicia, Alexis and Marcus; one great-grand-daughter, Ariana; one sister, Paulette White; one son-in-law, Warren Logan; two aunts, Theresa Bell and Marie Planter; one uncle, Pierce Holly; close cousin, Delores Robinson; god daughter, Keisha and a host of nieces, relatives and special friends, especially Nadine, Shirley, Sherma, Valerie and Jackie. Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Tyrone and her sister, Theresa Stewart.
