Janie Delia Byrd was born on July 22, 1934 to the late Janie D. and George Wesley Echols in Auburn, Alabama. She departed this life on February 7, 2012. Janie left home at an early age after meeting and marrying the late Daniel Byrd. She settled here in Baltimore, Maryland and was blessed with 6 children. Janie worked hard in life to ensure her children were taken care of. In her earlier years she cleaned houses for a living. She later found employment aft the Dukeland Nursing Home, where she remained employed until the facility closed. She last worked at The Comfort Inn until retiring. After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer, in the end she may had forgotten us, but we will never forget her. She was preceded in death by one son Benjamin Franklin and one sister Doris Robinson. Janie leaves to mourn one devoted daughter Janet Byrd-Cook, four living sons Daniel Traci and David Byrd, John Henry and Robert Lewis, four brothers, James, Wesley, Thomas and Henry Echols; three sisters, Georgia and Delia Echols and Shirley Jackson; grandchildren, Benjamin De Carla, Sherrell, Althena, Danielle, Ben Lynna, La Quisha Vernell, Tenisha, Ebony, Daniel and John, Jr.; seventeen great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
