Obituary

JEAN ELAINE (CUNNINGHAM) GAFFORD was born to the late Eby and Goldie Cunningham on August 7, 1941. She left this earthly life, after a lengthy illness, on April 25, 2013. She married Archie Lee Gafford Jr. on March 2, 1961. From this union two children were born. Jean was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and was a graduate of Southern High School. She later completed courses in computer science. Jean enjoyed so many things; walking, drawing, dancing, listening to music, going to movies, riding bikes, cooking and balding were just a few. Jean was a master at solving crossword puzzles and enjoyed word search puzzles as well. Of all the things Jean enjoyed, her first love was being with and doing things with her family, working with and caring for children. Jean was very engaged as a volunteer for St. Veronica's Headstart Program for many years. She was very instrumental in helping to develop parent policies and procedures. Jean leaves to mourn: her husband of fifty-two years, Archie Lee Gafford Jr.; daughter, Cheryl D. Gafford; son, Terence Gafford; granddaughter, Tiara; four sisters, Faith, Sunnie, Joy and Jay; brother, Timothy (brothers Glen and Antoni and sister Crystal preceded her in death). She also leaves to mourn: her aunt, Dorothy; sister-in-law, Emma; three brothers-in-law, Robert, Junior and Lawrence; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A NOTE TO AUNT JEAN As little children you cared for us all. Although we know we were a handful, you never complained. You helped to instill moral and values in our lives. Oh what a joy it was to have you as an aunt! Now that we're adults, we appreciate everything you've done to help shape and mold us. Thank you so much. No more suffering. No more pain. You're in a better place. You'll always he in our hearts and forever remembered. We will not say goodbye, but until we meet again... Viewing Joseph H.
