Jean Inez McArthur, daughter of the late Rufus and Anna Howe was born April 22, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on March 26, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Jean was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Dunbar Senior High School.

She received Christ at an early age and was a member of Israel Baptist Church for many years.

In 1944, she met her childhood sweetheart and later married the love of her life, James Porter McArthur on October 29, 1949.

Jean was a fun, loving, hard working Christian woman that loved her family. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, shopping and reading. She also in later years founded the Ma-Ladies Social Club in the early sixties, where she and her members traveled and held social events.

Jean started working at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1953. She worked for the hospital till 1958, then was employed at Glenhaven Suit Factory till she went to the USPS where she retired.

Preceding her in death are, James Porter, James Allen, Phillip Warren, one brother, Russell Howe, and one grandson, Kevin Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons, Kevin Gene and Terry Byron; one aunt, Bernice; four grandchildren, Keith, Patrice, Bridgett and Brianna; two great granddaughters, Elainia and Keyvonne; one sister-in-law, Thelma; two daughters-in-law, Sandra and Jeanine McArthur and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
