In Loving Memory On Saturday, November 7,2015 God called His servant, Jean Elizabeth Vincent, to her eternal reward. Her devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in God supported her through her struggle with illness and ultimately gave her peace. Jean was born to the late James and Virginia Vincent on April 13, 1937 in Littleton, North Carolina. She was raised by her devoted grandparents, Gus and Moriah Dowtin. She attended church and school in Halifax County, North Carolina. After graduating from Mciver High School, she joined her mother in Richmond, VA. She moved to Baltimore with her mother in 1961 where she began her long career in food service. Over the years, she worked for White Coffee Pot and Horn and Horn Cafeterias. She ended her career as the Head of the Salad Department in the residence cafeteria of Oakcrest Village Retirement Community. The love she shared in her kitchen with her family and friends was also shared with the patrons and clients of these Baltimore institutions. She also shared her culinary talents in the kitchen of the First Charity Baptist Church where she was an active member until illness prevented her from attending. Jean was a devoted matriarch and not only raised her three sons but was a mom and grandma to many of the children in the Norfolk Ave. neighborhood where she raised her sons. Jean also mentored and mothered many of the young people who worked with her over the years. Jean leaves to mourn her sister, Celestine Brooks and her brother in law, Raymond Brooks Jr,; her eldest son, Irvin Vincent (wife, Pam Vincent and children: Dashawn Owens and Janae. Vincent, her middle son, Michael Vincent(wife, Jacquelyn Vincent and son, Jamal Hinton), and her youngest son, Tony Vincent (daughter, Chelsea Vincent); her aunts, Mamie Alston, Josie Dowtin, and Mary Dowtin; her devoted niece Kiesha Larbi ; devoted friend, Ida Stroud; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who hove loved His appearing."
