JEANETTE LEAK, daughter of the late Anderson and Eunice Jackson, was born on August 11, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 after a short illness. She was one of eight children and was preceded in death by four brothers, Author Lin, Eugene, Mannie Leo and Timothy; sister, Isabell McFadden; and god-sister, Viola Gibson. She was united in matrimony to the late James Leak. She was the loving step-mother to their daughter, Diane Leak. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She enjoyed a lifelong career as a Beauty Salon Owner/Operator, her shops also located in the Baltimore City area. Jeanette was devoted to her family, especially her late mother, Mama Eunice. She was an outgoing person that loved to make people laugh. She loved to travel and many of her trips were connected to her career in beauty. Jeanette was a devout Christian and spent many years taking classes in Biblical studies. She frequently quoted her favorite scripture, "The Lord is my light and my salvation of whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I he afraid?" (Psalm 27:1) "Aunt Baba," as she was affectionately called by her nieces, nephews and their children, continued to use her wit and wisdom while working during her retirement years as a Teacher's Aide, helping to shape the lives of young children in the Baltimore City Public School System. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Bernice (Melvin Williams) and Patricia (Thomas Mellerson); devoted god-daughter and family, Irene Mabry-Moses (Robert Moses), Ebony Mabry and Khyree Woodberry; god-daughter and life-long friend, Hazel Burt and family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted family members and friends.
