Obituary

JESSE BARRETT, (better known as Bud, Doorknob, Let's Make a

Deal, Buddy Love, or a host of other names depending on when and
where you met him) was born on April 28, 1955 in Pitt County North
Carolina to the parents of Beulah and Jesse Goode Barrett. He
graduated from J.H. Rose High School in 1973. He always had the
gift of talk and natural ability at numbers. He showed special interest
in football, baseball, and basketball. In 1990 he became basketball
coach for minor league team the Greenville Rockets, where he took
them to the all-county finals. He later became a forklift operator at
Southern States for over 25 years until his retirement.

Bud as everyone knows him was funny, energetiC, always had a
story and was ready to show anyone a good time. His main purpose
in life was total devotion to his children and grandchildren, his
mother and family. Bud had a knack at being a trouble maker to
family and friends, a sharp dresser, and a storyteller that always
kept people laughing. He never met a stranger. He was the life of
the party and made sure he left everyone with a "Bud" story.

To know Bud is to appredate all he had to offer in his life. He knew
how to make others feel good about themselves. Whatever you
asked him for, if he had it, it was yours. He loved going to the
racetrack or having a cold beer while doing some serious trash
talking during a spades game. He lived with no regrets. Two years
ago, when doctors said he would never walk, talk, or even breath on
his own again, Bud, along with God's amazing grace, decided to
prove them all wrong. Bud leaves behind a large and loving family
with fond memories that will always be cherished from Baltimore to
North Carolina. He will surely be missed.

He is survived by his wife Dinah of 39 years, 2 devoted daughters,
April and Nikesha, 2 grandchildren, Tayveon and Dominic, his
mother, Beulah Barrett, his aunt Mamie Dixon, his Sisters, Eldress
Evon Best, Sherry Scott, brothers Steve Barrett and James Dixon,
sister in law Alden Dixon, Harrileshia Barrett, Joyce Watson, Carrie
Harris, brother-in-law Wert Watson and Tony Harris along with love
for many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in
death by his father, Jesse Barrett, his sister Michele Taylor and his
brother-in-law, Leon Coley, and his sister-in-law Lucy Jones.

To all family and friends who knew and loved Bud, keep him in
memory, smiles, and laughter. Be at peace knowing that Buddy
Love. God has shined His light on you and its showtime.
