Obituary

Jethro Clay, son of the late Dollie Mae Harrison and Willie Roberta Clay, was born on October 26, 1941. Clay, as he was called by all was raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida before moving to Hopeville, Viginia. There he received his education while living with his grandfather, John W. Phillips, who he always spoke of fondly. The family later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and he found work at South Baltimore General Hospital before enlisting in the United States Army. After serving several years in the Army he returned to the hospital until he was later employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Clay worked at the Steel Plant for thirty years until happily retiring in 2001. While working at South Baltimore General Hospital he met Freeda Jordon and they got married in 1964. He loved spending time with he family, especially loved being with his grandsons. After retiring he chaperoned on several school trips, picked them up before and after school, took them on vacations, took them to the Orioles baseball games and took them to their numerous sports practices and games. Clay always made sure the family had what they needed for family events especially his favorites, crabs, shrimp, watermelon, fruits and nuts. Clay loved to travel. Driving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Charlottersville, Virginia to visit family and friends were trips made several times a year until he became ill. Whether it was to New Orleans, Michigan, Pensylvania, Kentucky or Knoxville, Tennessessee to the World's Fair he never mind driving. If you needed a driver, Clay was the one to ask. He loved to fly and made several trips to Las Vegas. He also liked short trips to West Virginia, Atlantic City and Delaware along with some friends. He was very lucky on those trips and always shared his winnings with his family and friends. He leaves to mourn; wife, Freeda; sons Kenneth and Jeffrey; daughter, Yvette; special daughter, Lynda; grasndsons, Jamal, Kenneth and Jordon; brothers, James, Charles, Thomas, Henry and Benjamin; sisters, Willie Mae and Lillie; preceding him in death; brothers, Charles, Willie, Arthur Lee and sister, Mamie; uncle, Horace Lee Mary; brothers-in-law, David Shirley and Sylvester Rosa sisters-in-law eva, Marjorie and Geneva; cousins William Henry, Joseph and Benjamin; loving nieces and nephews; several dear friends, Mr alfred Davis, Mr. Samuel Berkley and Mr. Joe.
