Upon life's journey, we are given oportunities to plant seeds of goodness, kindness, and blessing seeds of our hearts, our work, and being. For those who saw the fields with loving generosity, so shell they reap the abundant harvest of eternal life. Words such as these bring some comfort to the family and friends of Joan Powell Green. After 74 years of sowing seeds of love, goodness and generosity, she quietly passed away on February 13, 2010 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. Joan was born august 20, 1935 in Emporia, Va. She was educated in the Greenville Public School System. As a member of Wayland Baptist Church, giving her life to Christ. She was preceded in death by her son Larry and her daughter Patricia. Joan was a loving and devoted mother , grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed but her memory and her influence will live on in the herarts of those who loved her in return. Affectionately known as Mama Joan to many who adored her. She was known for her down home cooking, she loved to see family and friends enjoy the many great meals she prpared But don't be late to her table! Her many pastimes included watching sports and playing all kinds of games, however bingo was her favorite. Those left behind to cherish her memories include her two devoted daughters, Judy Jackson Arthur and Shelia Jenkins Clinton, four grandsons, four stepgrandsons, four granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren, one sister Victoria Stewart Roland. one foster brother, deacon eugene Sills Eugenia, one foster sister eva Mortin, one step sister Martha Holly, a loving aunt Effie revis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
