JOE HENRY BLACKWELL, the oldest born son of the late James Henry Blackwell and Maggie Mae Bryant, was born on December 13, 1934. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. He received his education in the Hartwell County School System in Georgia. He successfully served in the United States Army. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and was employed and retired from Capital Steel. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior early on and was baptized at Providence Baptist Church. Joe was a compassionate and generous man who would put the needs of others before'his own. He loved his children, his grandchildren and his family dearly. Joe was affectionately known as "Joe Black" and "Blackwell." Joe leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of fifty-three years, Mae; his siblings, Paul (Linda), Howard (Mable), Ezell and Constance (Guy Sr.) (Eddie Lee, Jerry and Frank preceded him in death); his children, Michael, Andre, Terri, Joseph, Gwendolyn, Keith and Teresa; mother-in-law, Rita Felder; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; grandchildren, great-grandchilren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
