Joe Louis Hill, was born February 22, 1942 in Faison, North Carolina to the late Nettie Hill and Levi Stevenson. Joe Louis graduated from Douglas High School in Warsaw, NC. Upon graduation he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he was employed at Kennecott Inc. for several years before obtaining a job at the Baltimore Shipyard. He was later hired to work at the Hearn Kirk- wood Trucking Company until he retired in 2001. Joe Hill met and made many friends throughout Baltimore while working for over thirty years at the Social Sedan Services, B.K.A. "Hackers Club". Joe Hill gave his life to the Lord at a early age. He was a faithful and dedicated member to Hope Community Ministries where he served as a Deacon for the past four years. In the Spring of 1964 Joe Hill met the love of his life, ZelIa M. Grif- fin. They were married July 24, 1965. From this union they had a son named, Wayne (who preceded him in death in August 2009) and a daughter named Denise (Robert-Robert Jr. and Tyra). Joe also had a son named Terrell Joe Hill. He leaves to mourn: his wife of forty nine years, (Zella), Mother Bunch; three granddaughters, Chantell, Robyn and Denisha; one grandson, Dre L. Mills; four great grandsons, Jordan, Robert III, Shawn and Donyae; one great granddaughter, Taraji; five brothers, William (Loretta), Charles, Willie, Cedric (Susan), and Larry (Tean); six sisters, Eleanor, Mae, Nettie, Evelyn, Julia (Ronald) and Francis and a host of other rela- tives and friends. Joe was especially close to his brother-in-law Roosevelt and wife Jackie and his sister-in-law, Gladys. He also had long time faithful and dedicated friends for over forty years, Al and Betty Green.
