Obituary

JOHN ARTHUR HARRIS, son of the late Benjamin and
Suzanne Harris, departed this life peacefully at Marley Neck
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, February 28, 2017 at the of
age of 73.

"Johnny", as he was called by family and friends, graduated
from Wiley H. Bates High School in 1963. After graduation, he
began his career in the Retail Industry working at Pantry Pride
Grocery Store. He retired from Shoppers Super Market in 2000,
after 38 years. Johnny entered the United States Army in 1967,
he received an honorable discharge in 1973.

Johnny was an active member of Hall United Methodist Men
and the Usher Board, where he served for many years until his
illness limited his participation.

In 1973, John married Brenda Holland. From this union two
children, Troy and Tracy Harris, were born.

Johnny was a fun-loving person. He enjoyed eating, sports
(mainly football), looking at Westerns on TV, holidays and being
with family and friends. In his younger years, he considered
himself to be an above average Bowler.

John always carried a smile throughout his illness.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Brenda
Harris; two daughters, Kimberley and Tracy Harris; one son,
Troy Harris; devoted nephew, William Holland; four sisters,
Joyce Dozier, Besty Dotson (Gilbert), Barbara Hill and Linda
Chambers (Frank); brother, Samuel Harris (Jackie); sisters-in-law,
Carolee Pearman, Mary Harris and Joyce Harris; grandchildren,
Taryn Grey and Tyrone Hudson; great-granddaughter, Ariyana
McCracken; two special nieces, Arnel and Peyton and his best
friend, Gilbert Dotson. He will be greatly missed by family,
friends, and a host of special nieces and nephews.
