John Thomas Castle, Sr. entered this world on February 8th, 1920 through the united marriage of John Wesley Castle and Elsie Loretta Castle. Little Johnny was an industrious lad that was blessed with a strong mind, good looks and honest heart as well as a sweet tooth for candy. He was educated through the Anne Arundel School system in the state of Maryland. Young Johnny grew up embracing the excellent training from his parents to serve as his platform in orchestrarting his blueprint through life. After the death of his father, John looked after his mother and assisted in the care of his brothers William and Joseph.

During World War II John entered the United States Army. He served our country between the years of 1944 to 1946 and received the rank of Corporal. During the year of his discharge from the army John decided to settle down and meet the fiery love of his life, Elizabeth Eliza Wilson. They decided to build a future together and tie the knot on November 25, 1946. From their sixty-nine-year marriage carne five reflections of their likeness in the persons of Chares Edward Smith, John Thomas Castle, Jr., Elizabeth Eliza Castle, Beatrice Irene Castle-Bailey all(! Donald Keith Theodore Roosevelt Castle. John and Elizabeth raised their children under the umbrella of God's principles. The family grew up in New Shiloh Baptist Church where John served faithfully on the Usher Board until his leg amputation. He was noted as one of the oldest remaining ushers under the great leadership of Dr. J. Timothy Boddie and Dr. Harold A. Carter, Sr.

John worked for 20 years as Forman of Pikesville Lumber Company in Pikesville, Maryland. In 1963, he retired after saving a fellow coworkers life. His humanitarian effort cost him the loss of one of his legs. After retirement, John stayed active in his church activities.

October 15, 2016, John lovingly known as "Buddy" and "Pop-Pop" was called home by his Heavenly Father.

He leaves to rejoice in his long life and home going his wife, Elizabeth, Sons: Charles Edward, John, Donald and Daughters: Elizabeth and Beatrice. John's one remaining brother Joseph Powell (Deborah). His first generation of grandchildren who nurtured him through his time of illness: Mildred Briscoe, Claudia C. Boulware, Bryant A. Bailey, Curtis R. Boulware Oliver Smith, Richsharia D. Wilkins, Kurtson E. Boulware, and Megan K. Morris. Charles E. Smith, Jr (Deceased), Teonya Castle, Donald K. Castle, Brandon Castle, Myisha Castle. Angelique L. Castle-Waller, Andrea R. Castle, Andreana A. Castle-Gibson and a host of grandchildren including great to Great-great grandchildren. John Thomas Castle, Sr's life reflects the essence of a man designed by.God that yield unto a blueprint to reflect God's glory.
