John Edward Smith was born on September 9, 1952 in Summerton, South Carolina in Clarenden County. He was the son of the late Samuel Leroy Smith and Eartha L. Smith. He departed this life suddenly on April 12, 2012. John who was known by many as Toby was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Toby spent much of his early life working in laundry services. He later went to Barber School and pursued his interests as a Barber. Toby would often cut many of his friends and family members hair. Toby never married or had children but had many friends and family. Toby was very well liked by many. He always had good spirits and would always greet you with a smile, hug or kiss. Toby enjoyed watching movies, singing, dancing ad listening to music. He loved to collect "oldies but goodies." Toby, who knew the Lord, leaves to cherish his memory; A. devoted mother Eartha L.
