John Beverly Hansboro III was born on April 25, 1975, to the late John Beverly Hansboro II and Victoria Hansboro. After a lengthy illness, he departed this life on August 1, 2026. John graduated from Woodlawn High School and later attended Catonsville Community College. He worked as a site supervisor at EBA Engineering for ten years before being diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis.

John joined True Deliverance Outreach Ministry, where he became a deacon under the leadership of Bishop Michael Wallace. He had a unique and passionate way of worshiping God. He would hit the wall so hard that he put holes in it, knowing it was God who had spared his life. He later joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jonathan M. Wade. John often turned the messages Pastor Wade preached into poetry.

John appeared in numerous stage plays and productions. He was also an extra in the third season of HBO’s hit series The Wire, appearing in the episode “Moral Midgctry.” He volunteered with the Baltimore City Public School System and taught and performed with WombWork Productions. He was featured in several Sounds of Kindred Spirits shows, where he recited poetry alongside his wife, Shalanda, who sang.

John loved theater, the arts, acting, and poetry. God blessed him with a voice and a gift that inspired many. Because of his love for poetry, John created Spitfire L.L.C. along with Unusual Favor. His voice captivated the attention of many.

In 2006, John met the love of his life, Shalanda. After hearing her sing on a college DVD, he encouraged her to return to the gift she had set aside following two surgeries. Through that moment, they knew God had brought them together. They married on April 1, 2008, and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Jaland Victoria-Ruth and Joslin Michelle Lorraine.

John leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 18 years, Shalanda; two daughters, Jaland and Joslin; one brother, Victor (Sharonda); three aunts, Carolyn, Denise (William), and Lisa; his mother-in-law, Thelma; father-in-law, Joseph (who preceded him in death); and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Craig) and Cindy. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, with a special shout-out to the Williams, Phillips, Hansboro, and Bond families.
